Shadow people

Tonight we were all in our bedroom,my wife, daughter and daughter in law plus 2 grandbabies and our 9year old granddaughter.

My granddaughter looked at the open doorway and jumped informing us a shadow moved in front of our door and it was a man. I felt it but didn't see it.

She was scared and I told her I will look around. I went into every room, turning lights on (knowing dam what what that "shadow" was). She refused to use our toilet even after we looked around, made some story up about light shining from next door and a passing bat.

Our visitor was familiar so no goosebumps my way. Sounds like my wife's dad checking in on us. Our granddaughter didn't get to meet him before he died, neither did I but I have met him many times.

We try not to frighten our children. We don't want them to be afraid.

Things happen, the kids aunty died a couple of years ago and she visits us all regually and plays tricks. We know its her and a few family members have seen her about.

There is no halm or malice, a new grand child lives here, one month old. Of course family members are interested, even if they have passes.

Ever seen a child starring and Emily at something. You try to see what they are looking at and you notice nothing. Perhaps they see what we can not. Perhaps great grandmother is smiling and waving to them.

I have mentioned in posts previously, that our area of shadow activity is in our hallway from our room and around the bathroom.

No smudging needed as yet, no bad energy, but a lot of energy about.

Never a dull moment around here.

I know how your granddaughter feels, I was also raised in an old haunted house. Not sure what the prescribed way to deal with this with a child, I just accepted it and sometimes talked ‘at’ them because I could hear their muffled talking.

I found out many Years that I was in a room in a house where a man was murdered. Which would explain many things that happened on a nightly basis. I was the same, scared at first then knew what it was, didn’t harm me.

Living in a modern society where we spend 13,000,000,000 to witness the results of a Higgs Boson before we can believe they exist, some people might scoff at the idea. “It is just an overactive imagination.” One might say. But let us not forget that ancestor worship out-dates written history and played a key role in many diverse cultures around the world. Perhaps sharing stories of your passed loved ones with the younger ones would give them a basis for ease when they ‘show up’? Now, I am not a psychologist but I think I personally would try to gently introduce the idea of familiarity through storytelling. The when “old great-aunt shadow” shows up, just talk at the entity when the child announces their presence. “Hello aunt Abbey!” or say to the child, “Meh! That is just ‘Bob’, he is probably looking for his hat again.” Tie the familiar names and stories to the unfamiliar shadow in a way that helps set a peaceful tone. I suppose the worse that can happen is you fuel an imagination and those are important. Without imagination, where would we be today? Just my opinion.

Good opinion. This is what we encourage when our grandchildren first saw her. We told them why she checks in and to say hello and they totally embrace this.

With this visitor, our eldest granddaughter knew it wasn’t her.

I guess it stands to reason and for us to question being scared of the dark. Things happen and we can’t see it in the dark and our over active minds can create monsters roaming in our bedroom standing between us and the door.

Yeah, like my great great granpappy used to say, " Just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it ain’t real."

Had you thought on showing the giel pictures of the departed and making it a grand adventure? If she can put faces and names to the shadows, she may be more at ease. film is good too if either were recorded on super8, VHS or summat like….. Vice recordings also help, it is often the children hear them as well as see them.
I agree with nothinking on the idea of adults greeting the departed by name, making it seem quite ordinary.
One can also talk the departed and remidn them they arent’ supposed to scare the kids, ask them please be a tad more careful in how the manifest to them.

I lived in a couple of Victoria era rental houses with my folks when I was a kid, but never saw or heard anything. In one house, we were informed that someone had died in one of the upstairs bedrooms. I found that deliciously exciting! But alas, no ghosts.

Hmm, Victorian era rental houses. That sounds like a lovely setting for scary novel, even if it is tropish, it is hard to overlook them. Somehow I feel like the wheels would fall off a terrifying tale about a haunted mobile home. On the other hand, how they could they ever be repossessed without a possession?

You are lucky Betty, we have had some unsavoury characters in various places, not all but a few as we moved often.

They say our old house is haunted by several ghosts. When they are described they are all familiar to me. My mother in law, my brother in law and a girl from next door. As well as Midnight, our old black lab who I buried out back.

In addition they say my old computer room is haunted by a dark and evil force. That I recognize from when I was there.

I’ve met more evil live people than evil dead ones. It’s odd that ghost tales all have a common thread. Kinda like all liberals blame everything on Bush like there’s a cosmic book with all of this written down and every one of them has read it. Delusions are infectious.

    1. jaageet

Do you mean to say “evil disembodied people” are illusions?

      1. Walkaboutman

Hell on, I have encountered bad spirits and that is a horrible feeling indeed. But, I can tell the difference.

        1. GovMisdirection

Both you guys. How many evil or bad spirits have you IDed? You can tell if the bugger is ex-human or just some nasty vapor that’s been around forever? Illusions — probably, or bad enchiladas. The difference here might be you think of experiences with spooks, and I think of experiences on the astral plane.

Ahh,now that is a bigger topic yet again. Sure I have blogged about various dimensions and plains before somewhere. Hmm. There is always more than meets the eye and many things go by many different names.

I do give that impression, on Thoughts I’m not used to polite company. Thanks for the kick. No g-stories, you can have this one when in a jam: I begin tucking him into bed and he tells me, “Daddy check for monsters under my bed.” I look underneath for his amusement and see him, another him, under the bed, staring back at me quivering and whispering, “Daddy there’s somebody on my bed.”

I think Spirits/ghosts whatever is preferred for the name, they show only to those sensitive souls that have the energy and vulnerability they need to let their presence known. I since a young child, have always “felt” “saw” “smelled” things, that no one around me ever noticed.. Thus far the response from the people around me was : your imagination, or too many scary movies. hehe.. Oh well.

Often the ignorant or people afraid will ignore. I’m fairly selective as to who I let in face to face. Generally after they have an encounter at my home is a good time to tell them.

I have had experiences with “other world” entities on a couple of occasions.
My first was when I was asked to help a neighbor lady who was raising two children on her own by my daughter who babysat for her.
My wife and I were invited to go over and she read my wife’s cards as I worked on her bathtub taps upstairs.
I don’t know if they were tarot or regular cards, but she told my wife of events that were to unfold in her life which did actually happen in later years.
When I started working on her bathtub taps, I felt a presence behind me that raised the hair on my neck and gave me shivers down my spine, making me feel really uncomfortable. I could not get this feeling to leave.
I repaired the taps as quickly as possible, threw my tools into my toolbox and started downstairs.
I had just gotten to the top step when I felt this presence behind me attempting to push me down the stairs.
I grabbed on to the railing, leaning back against it to prevent being pushed down the stairs.
I don’t recall saying anything but the lady ran to the bottom of the stairs telling this entity that it was ok, that I was there to help her, and everything was alright, calling it by name as her “uncle”.
The entity suddenly released me and I almost fell backward on my butt, but man, was I glad to get my butt out of there.
Mind you, I may have had some inner ulterior motives in repairing the lady’s taps, as she was a really beautiful, attractive woman and very desirable.
Needless to say, I never returned to that house, being “spooked” out of the place.
Years later, My wife and I had moved into my son’s basement apartment to watch their children as he and his wife both worked, and I saw a shadow person walk down the hall, which at first glance I presumed to be my son, but realized he was at work.
It was just a split-second glance, but it was an all black shadow entity that really resembled a man.
Maybe my mind was playing tricks on me but my eyes definitely saw the presence walking by.
    Spooky or what??

It certainly opens your eyes. My first experience was when my grandmother passed away, she visited me the night she died and told me that I will need to support my mother. When I woke up, mum was crying and I told her I knew what happened. That was a wonderful moment that intregedme about the afterlife.

Unfortunately it can be true, we have people in our house emitting a lot of negative energy and it attacks negative spirits. We find this often. These beings do not scare us but we are aware why they are here.
I must also add that when my wife’s dad or my nan visit, these are not shadow people spirits, their souls are light and spirit is white. There is a difference.
You can be affected by dark ones especially if you are vonerable.
